DANCE CHALLENGE ENTRIES
Studios with less than 10 groups in Dance Inspirations
Studios with 10 to 15 groups in Dance Inspirations
Studios with 16 to 19 groups in Dance Inspirations
Studios with 20 to 29 groups in Dance Inspirations
Studios with 30 or more groups in Dance Inspirations
DANCE CHALLENGE CRITERIA
Each studio will be required to review their “highest marks” from each genre across small and large groups. Please report to the main office after the Dance Inspirations Event for a list of your eligible routines.
Dance Studios will be required to declare their entries at the end of the 9:00 session Saturday evening. Please ensure this is done!
In the event a studio is permitted 1 entry, the studio may choose to enter either the junior or the senior division.
In the event a studio is permitted 2 entries, the highest of all junior groups will automatically be entered in the junior division and the same applies to the senior division.
In the event a studio is permitted 3 or more entries, the highest of all junior groups will automatically be entered in the junior division, the highest of all senior groups will be entered into the senior division. The studio has the option to choose from their remaining eligible routines to perform in the divisions of their choice.
All entries must be evenly distributed amongst the junior and senior divisions. In the event of an odd number of entries, the studio will get to choose whether to place them in the junior or the senior division.
In the event that you have groups only in the junior division, or only in the senior division, all eligible entries will be in that division.
Junior- 12 years and younger
Senior- 13 years and older
Marking criteria will remain the same as Dance Inspirations. However, each performance will be marked by all three (3) adjudicators. The final mark will be the average of all three (3) scores.
In the event of a tie, original marks from Dance Inspirations will be referenced.
Marking criteria is as follows:
60% Technique - Execution of dance steps at appropriate skill level with proper posture and control
30% Stage Presence, Artistry and Musicality - Good projection and visual appeal, flow of movement with music and appropriate timing
10% Overall Impression - Quality of performance
Scholarships will be awarded to the top three scores in the Junior and Senior divisions, as well as an Honorable Mention Scholarship will be awarded to the highest score to a group not having placed in the top three.
First Place winners will be presented with a generic banner for photo’s and will receive a banner following the event which will include both the studio and group name.
Second, Third and Honourable Mention will be presented with a plaque to take home.
Senior Groups (Age 13-18)
1st place - $1,500
2nd place - $1,000
3rd place - $500
Honourable Mention - $300
Junior Groups (Age 5-12)
1st place - $1,000
2nd place - $750
3rd place - $250
Honourable Mention - $200
